We are deep in Geometry now? What is Geometry???

Geometry is the area of mathematics that deals with points, lines, shapes and space.

Plane Geometry is about flat shapes like lines, circles and triangles.

Solid Geometry is about solid (3-dimensional) shapes like spheres and cubes.

Polygons are plane figures with three or more sides.

Triangles:

Triangles are polygons with three sides. There are several types of triangles. Click on the colored link above to learn more about triangles.

Quadrilaterals:

Quadrilaterals are polygons with four sides. They include rectangles, squares, trapezoids, parallelograms, rhombuses. Click on the colored link above to learn more about quadrilaterals.

Other Polygons:

Other polygons include pentagons, hexagons, heptagons, octagons, decagons. Click the colored link above to learn more about other polygons.

Let's investigate Triangles. Check out this awesome song to help you learn the different kinds of triangle. Rock on!

We have learned how to find the AREA and PERIMETER of a rectangle!

Area= Length x Width
a=l x w
a=lw

Perimeter= side + side + side + side
P= 2(Length) + 2(width)

Check out this cool song to help you rock out to AREA and PERIMETER.

We are analyzing data in class!

How you ask? Well, we are determining the mean, median, mode, and range of a data set...

Another word for Mean is Average

Another word to describe Median is Middle. It is the middle number of a data set, but first you have to arrange the data from least to greatest!

Another way to describe the Mode, is the data that occurs the Most.

And finally the Range is the difference between the greatest value and least value in a data set.

We are having fun with Fractions because they are all around us!

Question: If you love cake would you rather have 2/3 of it or 4/8 of it?
Let me know what you think and be ready to explain why!

We have learned a lot about fractions! Check it out!!!
We can sing the Fraction Song!
We can tell you what the numerator and denominator is in a fraction and what each means.
We can compare fractions to see if they are greater than, less than, or equal to each other.
We can add fractions together when their denominator is the same.
We are ready to learn more about fractions!
